In my never-ending quest to stay youthful, I've added a few more weapons to my arsenal. They say the best defence is a good offence, and I'm trying to stop the wrinkles before they even get a chance to form.
Enter the Ole Henriksen 3 Little Wonders set. This trio provides everything you need to fight wrinkles, decrease hyperpigmentation, and brighten skin. I have been using this set for almost three weeks, and have noticed a difference in my skin for the better. Some light scarring from previous acne has disappeared and my sister even commented that my skin looks brighter lately.
The set contains 3 different products:
- Truth Serum Collagen Booster
- Sheer Transformation cream
- Invigorating Night Gel
See my previous post here. I have been using Truth Serum for over a year now, and I can see myself using it until my old arthritic hands can no longer pump the bottle. If you're looking for something to brighten your complexion a noticeable amount, you MUST check out this serum, you won't be disappointed.
Sheer Transformation Cream
This cream contains Vitamin C, licorice root extract, and pea extract. It is meant to even and brighten skintone, as well as moisturize. My only qualm about this product (as well as the night gel) is that it comes in a bottle. I would have preferred these products come with a pump like the Truth Serum does for sanitary purposes.
However, this cream provides excellent hydration and it sinks into the skin quickly leaving no residue behind.
Invigorating Night Gel
This gel claims to help diminish the appearance of fine lines, breakouts, and hyperpigmentation with AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid). So far, I've been loving it. My skin has been relatively clear (minus the few hormonal zits I get during shark week) and old scarring has all but disappeared. My anti-aging fight is going well, so I can't comment on well it works to reduce wrinkles because thankfully, I don't have any.
This gel is not moisturizing enough for me to use on its own at night, so I like to put a layer of my Roc Retinol cream over it for extra wrinkle fighting power. And again, my issue with its packaging being in a jar....le sigh......
Overall, I would highly recommend this trio for anyone looking to brighten their complexion, fight wrinkles or decrease any hyperpigmentation.
It retails at Sephora for $70 CDN which is a great deal because the 1oz bottle of Truth Serum is $48 when purchased on its own.
Has anyone else tried this trio? Or any other Ole Henriksen products?

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation is a favourite of mine and of many other beauty bloggers. It gives amazing coverage and lasts all day without fading or creasing. However, it photographs terribly! It gives a greyish cast in photos and can feel a little heavy on the skin at times. Which is why the company came out with their Day Wear Light foundation (well, thats why I think they did anyways).
The Day Wear foundation offers the coverage of Double Wear without the heavy cake-y feeling and without changing color in photos. It provides medium coverage and gives a matte finish when it dries down. The foundation contains an SPF of 10 (like the original formula) but does not cause a grey cast when photographed. The company claims that the foundation will last up to 15 hours on the skin, and I can totally agree. I've put this foundation on at 5am and it has lasted through until 9pm when I came home and took it off with some minor fading on my chin and forehead (I'm sure my combination skin had something to do with that).
I like to apply the foundation with a foundation brush and set it with my MAC mineralize skinfinish. The two work really well together to give the skin an airbrushed finish.
I have this foundation in shade 3.0 (for reference, my skin tone is NW 35-40) and its a perfect match. The only downside to this foundation is the lack of color selection. There are only 6 shades (or intensities as they're referred to on the website) to choose from. But I feel that because the foundation is only a light to medium coverage, it will fit most skin tones as it blends really well into the skin.
The foundation retails for $36 USD ($42 CDN) and is definitely one I will re-purchase.

Hope you all had a spooky Halloween and ate all kinds of sugary treats! My best friends were visiting from Toronto, so you know we hit the town and partied all night! My costume was a little last minute because I really wanted to go as Princess Jasmine, but couldn't find a costume that didn't look cheap. So I decided to go as a cheetah, because I already had a cheetah print dress (my love of animal print will never die) and was able to find matching ears and a tail.

I have been obsessed with wearing bright colors during fall. I feel that it brings memories of summer into another season. This is a dress I had purchased at the start of summer, but could never find the right occasion to wear it. Finally, I realised that if I didn't wear it soon, I wouldn't be able to wear it at all until next year. So I ended up wearing it out on a random night of club hopping with my girls. I paired it with my spiked ASOS belt to make it a little edgier, and I really liked the way the two look together. This is definitely an outfit I'll be repeating!

The weather is getting colder, and the days of baby pink summery nail colors are over. But I managed to sneak in one last week of pale nails before I head to my usual dark fall shades.
Essie's Fiji nail polish is a favorite of many, and its obvious why. Its the perfect pale pink, and looks great both with and without a tan.

I'm sure you all have a favorite piece of clothing (or if you're like me, you have many fave pieces). Lately, I've been obsessed with my red jeans. They're the perfect way to add a pop of color to any outfit. I wore this outfit to Fashions Night Out last month (yes, I know, I'm very behind on my blogging, but medical school took over my life and mental health last month with all the work needed for residency applications). Anyways, now that I have my life back, there are many, many posts I have coming up, including reviews of some new foundations and various other makeup reviews. So stay tuned lovelies!

After being locked in my apartment for what seems like an eternity, I ventured out with some friends to dance the night away. Actually, I was just looking for a reason to wear my new spiky belt I got from ASOS a few weeks ago. I love this belt! But it runs a little big, so I had to get some extra holes punched in it.

While randomly flipping channels one night, I came across an ad for Shoedazzle, an online store owned by Robert Shapiro (one of OJ Simpson's attorneys) and Kim Kardashian. The website offers shoes, clothing, and accessories, at great deals. It used to be a subscription service where members would pay $39 per month for a pair of shoes personally selected for them by Shoedazzle's stylists. However, the site has changed and is no longer a subscription service. Instead, customers only pay for the shoes they purchase, they are not charged a monthly fee. I prefer the new format much more than the old one. I like the freedom and flexibility of being able to order shoes whenever I want, while still being able to take advantage of the great prices Shoedazzle offers.
The ordering process at Shoedazzle was very easy, and they have LOTS of cute styles to choose from. Also, because it was my first order, I received 25% off my first pair, and they offer free shipping both ways (only in the US). I was able to track my order once it shipped, and it took about a week to arrive.
Overall, I'm thrilled with my Shoedazzle purchase. The shoes are very good quality and ordering was a breeze! I will definitely be ordering from them again.
Have any of you tried Shoedazzle?

I am always on the hunt for the perfect mascara. One that will add some length, LOTS of volume and be able to hold a curl all day long without flaking. Impossible you say? Thats what I thought too, until I came across Maybelline's Mega Plush Volume Express mascara.
From Maybelline's webiste:
Now, mega volume goes mega plush.
- Our first gel-mousse mascara with 40% less hard waxes for massive volume with a supple touch
- Extra-soft, patented flexor brush caresses lashes
- Lashes never brittle or flaky
- Available in washable and waterproof formulas
At first, I found the formula too wet, it needed about a week of use to get a little thicker, but once it thickened up, I found myself reaching for this mascara over my all-time favourite, Cover Girl's Lash Blast.
This mascara allows you to build good volume in two coats without looking spider-y or clumpy. It adds a little bit of length to my lashes, but nothing overwhelming, which is fine by me since I have long lashes naturally. My most important criteria in a good mascara are ability to build volume and the ability to hold a curl. My lashes are very straight, and even after curling them, they tend to straighten out again after a few hours. I found this mascara was able to hold the curl all day, which is unheard of for a non-waterproof mascara (at least on my lashes anyways). It washes off with soap and water and doesn't flake throughout the day or irritate my sensitive eyes.

Sometimes, I like to pretend that I'm braver than I actually am. The truth is, I'm a chicken who can't watch scary movies alone and hides under the covers whenever I hear a strange noise in my apartment. So I don't know what possessed me to take a haunted tour of Chicago BY MYSELF! Of course there were other people on the tour with me, but I went alone. Needless to say, I was scared to death by the time I got home and slept with all the lights on in my apartment for the next couple of nights. The tour itself was a mix of ghost stories, visits to different sites in Chicago where these scary events took place, and lot of history about the city. I really loved the tour because I'm a huge history buff and Chicago has such an interesting past filled with disasters (The Great Chicago fire which completely leveled the city), mobsters (Al Capone and John Dillinger anyone?), and serial killers (like John Wayne Gacy). I would definitely take this tour again, however, I'm not going alone!

Now, onto the outfit I chose to wear to get the crap scared out of me. It was a little chilly that night even though its August, so I chose to wear a light sweater layered over a tank top. As for my hair, I took the easy route with a sock bun. For those of you unfamiliar with what a sock bun is, its basically a clean gym sock thats been manipulated to form the base of my bun. My hair is naturally very thick, so using a sock makes my bun pretty big, and I love it! The bigger the hair, the closer to heaven! LOL

I had a free day last week, so what better way to spend it than driving for an hour out to the suburbs and heading to the Cosmetics Company Store? After I was done there, I decided to make it a whole day devoted to make-up and headed to Sephora.
Heres what I picked up:
|L-R: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, Bobbi Brown Cream Concealer in Warm Beige, MAC Surf Baby Bronzer in Refined Golden, and MAC Surf Baby eyeshadow in Sun Blonde|
The Bobbi Brown cream concealer comes with a concealer on top and a yellow-based setting powder on the bottom. I love the texture of this concealer. Its very creamy, but doesn't settle into fine lines and it lasts all day. I love that it comes with a setting powder because they work very well together.
I also picked up the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray at Sephora. This is an amazing product! A couple of sprays on your face in the morning, and your makeup stays put all day! I don't use it every day, because I don't wear a lot of makeup to the hospital, but its perfect for those nights you just want to party. It keeps your makeup in place, even if you sweat! Its also perfect for brides who want to keep their wedding makeup in place all day and all night. It photographs like a dream, I swear!
Have any of you been to the CCO lately? Find any good deals?
