Review: Derma-E DMAE Alpha Lipoic C-Ester Creme

What is it: Widely-acclaimed DMAE and Alpha Lipoic Acid are combined with C-Ester in this rich moisturizing formula that both hydrates your skin and supports collagen and elastin health. Contains 1% Alpha Lipoic Acid.
I purchased this cream after seeing a segment on Dr Oz about the benefits of DMAE cream and its ability to promote collagen renewal. After reading some online reviews, I decided to purchase this off of Amazon.com.
I tried using this cream as a daytime moisturizer and found that my face was an oil slick by noon. And my make-up was no where to be found! So I then switched to using it as a night time moisturizer. I've been using it for about two weeks now, and have found that it is irritating to my combination skin. I've been waking up with one or two whiteheads every morning which is not normal for my usually clear skin. Since this is the only new product in my skin care routine, it has to be due to this cream. I've also noticed that the pores on my cheeks are more visible whereas they used to be almost invisible before.
I've decided to ditch this cream and go back to my nightly retinol cream as retinol is the only compound that's been scientifically proven to promote collagen synthesis.
Has anyone else tried this cream? What do you think?

NYX Haul & Swatches!

Hello lovelies,

Recently Cherry Culture had a sale for 50% off NYX products. I've read lots of amazing reviews on their products and was really anxious to get my hands on some. Unfortunately, NYX products aren't that easy to get ahold of in Toronto. But since I live in the Windy City now, the make-up world is my oyster! LOL
I ended up purchasing 4 of their round lipsticks, 4 round lip glosses, a cream blush and a duo fiber synthetic face brush.
After swatching all the products, I'm really impressed by their quality and colour pay-off. The lipsticks and glosses show up really well on my pigmented lips which is rare. I once spent over an hour at the MAC counter trying to find a nude lipstick that actually made my lips look nude! I'll do a review on that shade soon.
Now onto the swatches.....
 My cat Nalah had to inspect the products

Hey lovlies!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! The weather in Chicago has been bi-polar lately. On Wednesday I was at the beach, and today I almost needed to pull my winter coat out of the closet! I swear there was some snow mixed in with the rain today. Not cool Mother Nature!
Anywho.....last weekend I went out with a few friends and here's my Face of the Night. Heavy lined eyes and a bold red lip. This is my favourite red lipstick from MAC, I should have purchased more than one! Don't you hate when you only buy 1 item of something and then it runs out and you long for it the rest of your life? Ok, maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but you know what I mean!

 Breakdown of the look:

* Sephora Perfection Primer
* MAC Face and Body in C4
* MAC select cover-up in NW30
* MAC MSF in Medium/Dark
* MAC blush in Lady Blush (my all time fave!)

* MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork applied all over my lid
* Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Zero
* 1 coat of Lashblast in Very Black
* DUO lashes
* E.L.F. eyebrow kit in dark

* MAC Heartless lipstick from the Venemous Villains collection

E.L.F. Lipstain review & HOTD

Hey guys!
Recently eyeslipsface.com had a 50% off sale on their Studio Line so I picked up a bunch of products I've been wanting to try, one of which was the lip stains. I got two, Birthday Suit and Fashionista, and I must say, I really love them! I've been wearing them a lot, especially when I go to the hospital because it makes my lips look done without being overdone. I also like how they have a stain on one end and a shiny gloss on the other end so you have two options on how to wear the look. I prefer to wear the stain without the gloss on top, but to each her own!
The stains are really pigmented and show up well on my already pigmented lips. Birthday Suit is the perfect baby pink shade for my skin tone and Fashionista is another pinky shade with a little bit of a darker undertone. Both are very flattering. I haven't tried any lipstains from other brands so I'm not sure how the E.L.F. ones compare, but for the price ($3), you can't go wrong!

Also, thought I would show you the Waterfall Braid I learned how to do on YouTube. It was so easy to do!

FOTD & F21 goodies

I was heading out to meet a friend for lunch and thought I would do a quick FOTD with some gold-toned shadows.

* MAC Face & Body foundation in C4
* MAC Select cover-up in NW30
* MAC MSF in dark
* NYC Creamstick blush in Plaza Pink

* MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork applied as a base all over my lid
* E.L.F. 100 color eye shaodw palette (I used a bronze colour all over my lid and put a dark brown color in my crease)
* Annabelle Kohl eyeliner in black applied on both upper and lower lash lines
* Covergirl Lash Blast in Very Black applied on upper lashes

* E.L.F. lip stain in Birthday Suit

I also went out to explore my local F21 and found a couple of cute accessories; peacock feather earrings and pearly-colored sunnies. Unfortunately, the wind blew away one of my earrings when I wore it out! :( Guess that's why they call it the windy city!

FOTD - Spring Eyeliner

Even though you can't tell from the weather, Spring has sprung! I have a bunch of colored eyeliners and I've been neglecting them lately, so I thought I would break one out and try something different. I love this look because it adds an extra "pop" of color to your face without being overly dramatic. I feel like it's the perfect easy daytime look. You can even thicken up the liner or add it to the lower lashline for a quick night time look.

Products used:

* MAC select cover-up in NW30 under eyes and to cover blemishes
* MAC MSF in medium/dark
* MAC mineralize blush in Dainty

* Annabelle kohl liner in Lotus on upper lash line
* Annabelle kohl liner in Black on lower waterline
* Covergirl Lashblast mascara in Very Black on upper lashes

* MAC lipglass in Strange Potion from the Venemous Villains collection
